Great Race 2012

We participated in what is known as the "Great Race". It's where teams form and compete in a scavenger hunt including tasks that relate to Urban Exploration. This all takes place on a website known as Deggi5. We participated in this race last year and decided we would participate again this year. Usually we just plan a trip on the may long weekend, and it usually corresponds with the great race so we participate. Although this year we lost a team member and spent half the race sleeping but we did alright and did complete many tasks - considering the task list favors those in the states. I participated of course with Saskurbex and we did not have a team name but our sign name was "paranormal prairie pirate"- which i assume was given to us because last year we were the prairie pirates.

By now I am sure you all know that I absolutely love abandoned hospitals. Unfortunately there are not many left in this province which means I get to travel to other provinces and states to find them.
As you may know there is flooding all over the province right now which has made it virtually impossible to get to any locations. Because of this there is a lack of blog posts - but don't worry I have much more that I have not shared with you! I figured now would be a good time to share a hospital that I explored. As gutted as it may be, it was still interesting to see.
Some of my favorite parts:

• tunnels
• power plant
• hospital bathtubs & other equipment
• hallways filled with sunlight (usually its dark because of boards)

A return trip to the hospital was promised to me for my birthday.

We decided to return to the hospital for a more thorough explore. It was amazing! We went into every wing and into every room. We found some x-ray machines, lab, hospital beds and things we never realized were there.This trip turned out to be much longer than we planned but it was worth it.

Some highlights:
- Scythe wandering off from the group
- sitting in almost every hospital bed
- working with my new flash & remote
- finding an x-ray machine like the one in Weyburn Mental
- dental chair and tools
- lots of funny pictures
- how intact the hospital was
- finding original documents

We spent hours wandering the halls photographing everything. Pictures speak louder than words in this case so here they are:

A HOSPITAL! *screams of joy*

The highlight of the trip for me was definitely the hospital we found. Not like anything i had ever seen this hospital had all the equipment left behind & a morgue! I could have spent days in this hospital for sure but were short on time so we only got to see part of it. The halls were all labeled, equipment in place, lights not smashed, morgue trays in place & had that abandoned smell. I hope to go back to this location as soon as my budget allows it.
